Hi`ialakai Plan of the Day

PLAN OF THE DAY
NOAA SHIP HI'IALAKAI (R334)

Date: Sept 22, 2004 (Wednesday)

Night Ops. (Sept 21, 2004)
1800 - 2400 Perform TOAD tows on windward side of Maro
Reef.
0000 - 0600 Perform two CTD casts to 500m. Locations
will require transiting outside the contiguous zone.
See night ops sheet for TOAD and CTD coordinates.
After the 2nd cast, continue to the small boat launch
site on the north-northwest side of the reef.

0730 - Launch HI-3 (19' Safe Boat) for tow boarding,
HI-1 (10m) for REA work, and HI-2 (8m) for moorings
near 25/30.0 N and 170/40.0 W. Launch as close as
safety allows to reduce the distance the 8m tows the
CREWS buoy.

REA Team - Will visit sites R12, R9, and R3

Mooring Team - Will work in northern area. CREWS buoy
deployment.

TOW Team - Normal operations around the north part of
the reef. Ship will meet HI-3 at north-northwest
launch site around noon for equipment swap.

1630 - Stagger the recovery of boats near the launch
site. HI-2 should be back at 1630, followed by HI-1 at
1635, and HI-3 at
1640.

In order to ensure that everyone gets to sample the
Chief Steward's and Susan's delicious meals, please
hold off on eating a second helping until all have gone
through the line once. It's hard because they're so
good but your shipmates will appreciate your manners.

THANK YOU to all aboard for conducting yesterdays Fire
Drill with such enthusiasm. It's a great feeling
knowing we can rely on our shipmates to do their
job... and then some!

Movies for this evening: (Both will start at 1730 and
again at 2000.)

- Barbershop 2
- Enter the Dragon
